The central government expressed concern over delays in processing pension cases, which adversely affected central government pensioners. To remedy this situation, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs issued an Office Memorandum emphasizing strict adherence to timelines outlined in the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021. The memorandum mandated that pension cases must be processed timely, highlighting the importance of specific timelines for retiring employees. According to the rules, verification of service records and other preparatory tasks should commence one year prior to retirement. Additionally, employees are required to submit necessary forms six months before their retirement to the Head of the Office to ensure timely pension processing.
