Aim & Scope

Journal on Labour is the flagship annual journal of the National Law University Delhi, published by the Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy. It is a double blind peer-reviewed forum dedicated to advancing critical and interdisciplinary scholarship on labour, employment, and social security law.

The journal seeks to provide a platform for rigorous legal analysis and informed debate on contemporary labour issues in India and beyond. It welcomes contributions that explore the intersections of law with economics, sociology, history, industrial relations, and public policy, recognising that labour questions demand multi-dimensional engagement.

The scope of the journal covers, but is not limited to:

  1. evolving labour market regulation in the global South and comparative perspectives

  2. the impact of constitutional rights and international labour standards on domestic labour law

  3. questions of informality, migration, gender, caste, and other structural dimensions of labour

  4. social security, pensions, and welfare frameworks

  5. the role of technology, digital platforms, and new forms of work in reshaping labour regulation

  6. judicial and legislative developments affecting workers, trade unions, and employer.

Through scholarly articles, notes, and book reviews, the journal aims to serve as a resource for academics, practitioners, policymakers, unions, and civil society actors concerned with the future of work and the pursuit of dignity, equality, and justice in the world of labour.
