In Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, a Dalit youth named Mukesh Paswan faced a harrowing ordeal. Sunil Tiwari and his son Anuj Tiwari allegedly took Mukesh 350 kilometers from his home, promising a monthly wage of Rs 20,000 for work in brick kilns. When Mukesh asked for money to buy food, Sunil and Anuj allegedly hurled casteist abuses, beat him severely, and locked him in a room. They later abandoned him. Mukesh managed to return home with the help of a bus driver and sought medical attention. Despite filing a complaint at Jagatpur Police Station, the police did not register an FIR, citing jurisdiction issues. Mukesh also contacted the Superintendent of Police, but received no immediate response. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to take strict action, and further updates on the case are awaited.
