Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, implemented additional safety protocols for healthcare facilities in reaction to the rape and killing of a female physician at RG Kar Medical College. Perimeter barriers, regulated access for cars and the public, and controlled entry/exit points were all specified by the policy. Staff were required to have ID cards, and a visitor permit system was implemented that allowed for a maximum of two attendants per patient. There were waiting areas with frisking staff, guards on patrol, and other security precautions. Strategic locations, including as wards and hostels, were to have CCTV surveillance, and footage had to be monitored round-the-clock in a control room. In all wards, male and female doctors and nurses were guaranteed duty rooms and restrooms. The purpose of these actions was to improve security and safety in the healthcare sector
