The Odisha Government declared that junior teachers, including contractual junior teachers and Sikshya Sahayaks (schematic), were regularised to Level-V (A) positions within the elementary teachers' cadre after six years of continuous, satisfactory service, in accordance with the teachers' career advancement policy. It made clear, therefore, that regularisation would not be possible for educators who were untrained or who had failed the Odisha Teachers' Eligibility Test (OTET). 16,009 recently hired junior teachers were given appointment letters by the state administration on Saturday for basic and upper primary schools under a variety of programs. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended an event at Kalinga Stadium where Chief Minister Mohan Majhi personally delivered some of these appointment letters.
